Andrew Greissman is a writer from New York City. Born in 1990, he first engaged with poetry through the Brooklyn Poetry Outreach program founded by Brooklyn Poet Laureate Ken Siegleman in 2002. He participated in reading events organized by Ken as well as those of the Yellowhook Poets group run by Tom Kane, local legend of the Bay Ridge arts scene, through middle and high school.
In 2012, Andrew received a BA in Creative Writing with a focus in Poetry from SUNY Purchase where he met fellow poet and musician Garrett DeTemple during their freshman year. The two continue to collaborate to this day on creative projects including songwriting and editing.
Andrew continues to write with a focus on poetry and fiction, influenced by a broad range of genres and styles across media including the symbolist movement, blues and metal music, impressionist painting, transgressive fiction, and many more. He is also influenced by life in New York, omnipresent ad copy, and the common experiences that allow people to relate intimately across diverse backgrounds. His ambition is to write in a way that is visually expressive through the use of imagery while remining accessible on an emotional level, leaving the impression of sensation and a lingering feeling with the reader.
